The circuit where the Formula 1 Telefonica Grand Prix of Europe will be held is a street circuit around the Juan Carlos 1 Marina, which was the base for the 32nd America's Cup, the most important sailing competition in the world.
The layout will also enter in the area currently undergoing expansion from the city itself towards the port area and will link two of the great maritime avenues.
The Valencia Street Circuit is framed by the Grao area and more specifically will pass through the inner docks of the port and around the streets of the future neighbourhood that will eventually be built between the railway track, the port and the old bed of the River Turia.
Veles e Vents is an innovative architectural proposal from the prestigious architects David Chipperfield and Fermín Vázquez, who was born with the objective of hosting guests and spectators of the 32nd America’s Cup and has become, without any doubt, an icon of the passage of the same across the city of Valencia. The building won the 2007 European architecture prestigious LEAF Award.
Located on the banks of the canal, it is a building of approximately 11,000 square meters consisting of four floating concrete floors that seem grounded in the air giving a feeling of weightlessness. Open platforms overlap as wooden terraces of different sizes connected by external stairs. The large glass coatings enhance the elegant minimalist design of the building and make it a vantage point of the city, the harbor and the events and competitions taking place in the Marina, such as F1 or regattas.
The Veles e Vents terrace is an extension of the same building conceived as an educational and leisure meeting area, occupying around 15,000 m². Several ramps connect these platforms with the lower promenade allowing the final connection of the Marina with the Malvarrosa beach. The extension of the terrace is an outdoor space plenty of international restaurants and entertainment venues.
